Thailand, and especially Phuket, is the ultimate port to embark on a diving adventure like you have never experienced before. The Andaman Sea offers some of the best diving destinations in the world... the famous Similan Islands and, further north, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock. These are all isolated dive sites far apart, each with their unique characteristics. The best places to encounter the biggest of all: Manta Rays and the legendary Whale Shark.
Calypso Divers is proud to announce the launch of our two new liveaboard boats, M/V Black Manta and M/V White Manta; both operated by Calypso Divers!
Now come onboard and enjoy some of the best dive sites in the world:
The Similan Islands, about 60 miles northwest of Phuket, with their mysterious boulder piles above and below the surface, are surrounded by supreme dive sites with great variations. You will find rocky landscapes attracting the big fish, and sandy bays with the most colourful soft corals you can imagine. Enjoy the stunning views from the top deck of your liveaboard vessel.
To the north you will find Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and the world famous Richelieu Rock. These are all isolated dive sites far apart, each with their unique characteristics. The best places to encounter the biggest of all: Manta Rays and the legendary Whale Shark.
If you are up for exploration, follow the trail going even more north. This is where you will
enter Burmese waters. Having been closed to foreigners for decades, they are now allowing small
groups of people to the Mergui Archipelago and the Burma Banks. These are groups of islands
containing lush jungle vegetation with a great variety of fauna. And they are also home to many
still unexplored reefs. Expect the unexpected: cruising silver tip sharks, black tips and even
possible encounters with bull sharks. And don't be surprised if you don't see another boat for days.
Another premium spot, south of Phuket, are the pinnacles of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, translated into Red Rock and Purple Rock. Some say this is the best you can find in Thailand waters.
Way out in open ocean, these rock formations drop down to great depths. In some parts more than 60 meters. The perfect conditions to meet up with some great pelagics. Manta rays and Whale sharks find their way back to these sites every season. The top of the pinnacles are covered in carpets of red and purple soft corals which explains their names.
Here at Calypso divers we offer you the best available when it comes to liveaboard diving. Apart from our boats, MV Black Manta and MV White Manta, we offer an extensive range of liveaboard boats which suit every diver's needs. We can offer you basic, comfortable cabins or VIP, en suite facilities. Want to dive Nitrox? No problem! On-board instructors to continue your training? You got it!
